We invite everybody to our celebration in June: The 23th of June at night, we celebrate around the fire the arrival of the summer, the shortest night in the year! This party in Catalunya is a tradition , but here in The Pyrenees you can enjoy with real fire: in some villages like Isil and Alins people goes up to a mountain and there they light up withfire some trunks. Each person carries a burning trunk on her/his shoulder from the mountain to the village. People in the village waiting for them enjoy with the view of the lights in the mountain. At the arriving they make a big fire with all the trunks and dance around it. The party is served: dancing and drinking to celebrate the shortest night in the year!

Trekking

In La Vall de Cardós, as in many other parts of the county, there are plenty of peaks and high mountain lakes: Certascan (the biggest lake in the Pyrenees), the Estany del Port (very close to France), Romedo, the summit of Pica d’Estats (the highest mountain in Catalonia), and many other ridges, mountain refuges and the traditional bordes, to have a rest along the way. There are also shorter and easier routes to follow with the family.

Ski and adventure

Cultural tourism

Geographically, El Pallars Sobirà is an enclosed country, but far from isolating the culture, our distinct traditions and life style have survived. The visitor can have a glimpse of it with a visit to the nearby museums, the ancient churches, the Romanesque bridges, which can be found in many of the little villages and hamlets scattered all over the mountains… but most of all, it is felt by chatting with the villagers, who have lived in this outstanding scenery for many years.
